A scream of a young woman came from the edge of the kingdom. This scream was one of white hot fear, so much so that it would seem this person was begging for their life. A few chuckles came from a pair of men, then a gun shot and a heavy knock rang through the air, leaving nothing but silence for a few seconds before a faint boom crashed through the air, only to leave silence so still, a whisper could break it, like a stone thrown at a window.
5 minuets earlier
"Looks like we got ourselves a pretty little dragon, eh Jonny?" A brute of a man said, as he and his partner cornered a young woman - no older than 16 - into a corner, near the edge of the kingdom. The brute held a wooden bat, with a knife in his holster. The other man wore brass knuckles. They both looked like your stereotypical thugs, but they were out to kill not rob.
The woman stood at a decent height, however her skin was bright red scales, her eyes were yellow and slit, horns lay on the side of her head curling slightly. The dress she wore was blue, ragged and old. Fear was frozen in her eyes as she watched the two thugs talking too each other.
"Yeah, but I wonder what's under the scales." Jonny answered grabbing the woman's arm and raising his fist ready to knock the woman's brains out. The woman screamed, fear soaked into her voice. Tears even started to pour out of her eyes, as she begged for them not to hurt her. The men only chuckled in response. Jonny then brought his fist down, punching the woman across the jaw, knocking her to the ground. The brute then stood over the woman and lifted his bat. The brute then brought his bat down, with bloodlust in his eyes as he was ready to kill.
Then a loud bang of a gunshot could be heard. The brute looked down at his chest only to find two bullet holes in his chest. Blood started to soak into his shirt as he dropped his bat, and dropped to his knees. He fell onto the ground lifeless. Jonny turned around only to spot a tall man in a long trench coat, holding a double barrelled revolver in one hand, and a cane in the other. "Monster hunting Jonny?" The man said, as Jonny then started to back away from the man, fear in his eyes. Then with a wave of his hand the man was behind Jonny. "How about I have a go at it?" The man whispered. As Jonny turned the metal part of the man's cane hit Jonny in the temple, knocking him to the ground. The man then shot another round into Jonny's head, before turning to the woman.
"Sorry about that ma'am. Let's get you out of here." The man said taking the woman's hand. He put his revolver away and waved his hand. Opening a portal of sorts. A clear image of another area stood in front of the two, with a dark purple could swirling around it. The man then ran throw it with the woman, and as the portal closed, a loud boom left with it.
Somewhere under the Kingdom
A portal suddenly opened up in a rustic house of sorts. This "house" was located under the Kingdom, and was large enough to house over 400 people. It was a place, made up of scrape material and old furniture, made to make due. This "house" was one of many as, this underground area acted as a city for monsters, and humans who sided with monsters. This area, held everything form housing to gardens, to workshops. It was a project made by the monsters who needed a place to say. This was the best idea.
Jacob walked out the portal with a young dragon woman. "You'll be safe here, do you have any family members?" Jacob asked, but he knew the answer was no. It was only confirmed by a sad nod from the girl. "Don't worry, I'll get you a home." Jacob said with a comforting smile.
After about two hours, Jacob came through the door too the inn. Yes when they had everything, they had everything. You needed an inn too keep your sanity in this world. Jacob walked up to the bar and sat down there. "Give me some ale, rough day." Was all that Jacob said, as he took his hat and scarf off. A few seats away from him would be Sicarius. One of their younger fighters, but also one of their most skilled shooters. Jacob only knew this because he'd seen the kid fight a couple times.
