They weren't even close in terms of power, and apparently he was able to see behind his head- considering he had seen him trying to stab him in the back after teleporting. He looked around for the other two people who were not controlled, and grabbed any weaponry left behind by the corpses.

So then, as a being not of blood, he simply loped off his hand holding it with his parrying dagger. Shock, blood loss, and other such things were of little consequence for a being like him after all. He should be able to regenerate it given some time and a campfire.
