Age: 18 cycles
Race: Skarabeios, the beastly race of insect-like beings. Typically they are frail and lanky in appearance, they are covered by their carapace which is beetle-like in composition. They all seem to have a deep infatuation with knowledge- a majority of them finding themselves as scribes, researchers, or teachers. They have powerful jaws, and a pair of insectoid wings that are often too weak to allow sustained flight.
Appearance: Standing at 5'7" and fairly lanky, Basis is similar to what an ordinary member of his race would appear like. His exoskeleton is a healthy deep blue with a pleasant dark sheen, his two eyes are a piercing emerald green, his jaws are somewhat exaggerated, and his wings a little larger than average beneath their wing covers. He usually wears a floor length cloak the color of sand over his his simple brown robe. There is a large satchel crossing his back for which he uses for storage
Powers: The old art of Runesmithing- a product of his search of knowledge. It is the creation and use of questions or commands, directed at magic rather than any living being. Originating from the Far East, it was used by scribes or artisans seeking to increase the durability of a creation or as self defense. It could do a great varity of different things, from enchantments to elemental magic to even the temporary animation of objects. However, the kingdom from which this art originated from was destroyed many centuries ago due to an unknown event- any corpses that survived ball having chunks of metal embedded within their flesh. Basis came across this when passing over one of their ruins and the ground- in fact the ceiling of a small temple- collapsed beneath him, revealing texts of this rare magic. It is hypothesized that runes are the language of magic itself, but that is obviously unable to be confirmed due to its energy nature. Besides having Runesmithing, his only other notable power is his overall intellect.
Equipment: Chinese-Style Crossbow that he received over his years of traveling, a vial of white ink and stick of blue chalk to utilize, a simple dagger to use, a backpack to hold, and 16 bolts to fire.
