Yaakov runs along the edge of the arena utilizing the mist he stops once he reaches the center left of the wall. He then runs clear to where he last saw his target. Trying to find some hidey hole or some cover.

Riachi had already suffered 1 damage and would suffer an additional 1 this round. It didn't matter to him though. He knew that in a battle of longevity and endurance, he would prevail. He jumped behind a nearby tree and observed Yakov disappear into the shadows quickly. Now came the waiting game. Once he would become desperate, riachi could make the final strike.

I have several problems with that post

With the abundance of trees in the arena, any of them could have been hiding Yakov's target. Riachi was behind a different tree than Yakov had ran to and was bidding his time. He could hear some footsteps, but it was too vague for Riachi to get a clear read from sound alone where Yakov was now. The mist and sets of trees did not help him localize Yakov by footsteps. Thus, Riachi would wait some more, hoping to catch an audible glimpse of Yakovs search attempts. By now, the mist was really beginning to set it.

A gunshot sounded not too far off from Riachi, but no bullet impacted close-by. He flinched and quickly began to race ideas through his mind. There were three options at hand with this 'useless' shot.

Option one, his opponent had found himself facing additional threats. But if that were the case then why was there no following struggle? So, option one was ruled out for now.

Option two, his opponent had bad eyes. Possible, but then he wouldn't be in the army.

Option three, this was a trick meant to draw Riachi out.

Riachi kept himself hidden and considered the options.

Now was Riachi's chance. As Yakov yelled and began to run, Riachi turned over his cover. He could see Yakov running, a good 15 meters away from him and getting further away. He aimed up his left hand and fired thrice with his magic shards.
