Ent At times you might hear people referring to the forest as a living and sentient being. They are not too far off the point, and these beings are likely the source of the tale. Ents are sentient trees, either been created or became sentient by unknown means, and can be found in the oldest or largest forests. A common theory is that they were offspring or product of a Goddess of Earth. Appearance and height often vary widely from their "original" plant species, but they usually seem to tower over a majority of other beings; on a side note, the Sequoia Ents have been recorded at heights well over 50 meters. The most common feature is that their "legs" end in large stumps capable of extending and retracting their roots in order to get a firm grip in the ground, there is often a distinct lack of branches besides the main limbs, and the presence of a wooden face capable of speech. Typically they will oversee and try and keep some semblance of order in their lands, and making pacts with Satyrs is not exactly uncommon. Ordinarily they are rather peaceful creatures. There is another kind of Ent, and it is a title bestowed upon truly old examples of their race- two millennia at a bare minimum. They are referred to as Arborcynn, and are often befittingly wise for their age. Their bark has hardened from intense concentration of Earth magic flowing through their bodies. However, time and humanity has never been kind to Earth's relics, especially those living. A majority of the surviving Arborcynn reside deep within impenetrable forests, jungles, or in remote locations. An interesting talent they possess is "hibernation", in which they enter a resting state to pass the years by and recover from mortal wounds. It is interesting to note that several Arborcynn were found in hibernation when the Flaura race were discovered in their homeland.
Health: 500-1500 Mana: 2000 Stamina: 2000 (+3 AP for Arborcynn) Mastery of Earth magic, either Holy or Unholy Wasp Swarm: As a large and rather safe tree with an added bonus of always moving, finding a hive attached somewhere is not a stretch. Interestingly, Ents manage to house both wasps and bees without any insect genocide. Wasp swarm has 20 Health, roll 1-4 dice with 6 sides. Needs a 1 or 6 to hit for 5 damage (Melee range) AP 2. Lasts 3 rounds, and costs 40 Mana. Plantae Requisition: Ents truly are some of the greatest masters of nature, for they can even bend fellow plants to their will. Causes plant-life within 50 meters to be completely to the will of the user( affected area is 10 meters in diameter), and allows obstruction of paths or slowing of individuals caught within. Costs 30 base mana, and an additional 30 for every accuracy they wish to lower or 40 for every movement speed to increase. While the growth remains longer, the effects fade upon exiting affected plantlife or after two rounds. In its basic form it is instant cast, bur every interval of 70 mana means an additional round of casting.
Trivia
Fearnites The reason that people believe that Ents are from a Goddess of Earth and not specifically is due to these beings. Evidence from a variety of fossils and preserves remains have revealed the existence of what are essentially Fern-based ents. Carbon dating specimen have dated their deaths from the late Jurassic period all the way to a mere century ago, the most recently deceased having been found in the a Himalayan mountain. It is speculated that there are approximately a dozen of these prehistoric creatures remain in deep hibernation. Which means that Gods know how many millenniums of knowledge are locked within these beings.
