Jax shot a glance back to Cabe with a soft, shy, grin. The girl would walk up to the creature, taking the energy knife off Davis, she cut into the creatures stomach. A miserable look of disgust became plastered on her face as she begun to gut the creature. Not to far away from the sight would be Morgan and Alex. Morgan whispering something into Alex's ear, causing the leader of the New Borns to grunt, as if he was annoyed. Cabe would probably be able to understand what Morgan had just said, with that being something along the lines of. "I have a gun, mistreat her, and you're dead." Which was made quiet apparent by their body language.
Later that night Cabe, with a few other's including the cousins, Davis, Corry and Alex, sat around the large fire. Most of the others had gone to bed to get some rest, while two others kept watch on the outskirts of the base. The night was nearly over, shown by the reddish tinge resting on the horizon. The great fire had died down by now, allowing Jax to skewer the beast and roast it over the fire. People had came, one by one, ripping strips off the beast as food. It was now nothing but bone, with a few strips of well done meat on it.
"We're going to need to move soon..." Alex mentioned in a low voice to everyone sitting around the fire. This statement was met with mix reactions. Some people gasped in shocked, while others whispered to each other about it. Most seemed to be in shock rather than denying it as a move, except for Morgan that was. Standing up out of her seat she eyed Alex up.
"Sorry, what? Me and my team may be pathfinders, but I've told you before, there is no route that will allow all of us to move." Morgan said crossing her arms in defiance. "Corry show him." The boy dressed in military uniform disappeared for a moment or two, before rushing out of one of the huts. In his hands he held serval makeshift maps of the land scape. Running up to Morgan, he gave her the most recent one. "See, there is a path up, but theirs a coke point on the cliff. It's far to dangerous to traverse, unless you want to loose anymore New Borns."
In a frustrated temper Alex suddenly sprang out of his seat, a spear in his hand. It appeared that he might of attacked, however, he was suddenly stopped in his tracks as a gun was pulled on him. Morgan stood with the most dominance at this moment. With a gun in her hand, pointed at Alex's chest, the so called leader backed down. Lowering his spear, he rubbed his temple, in an effort to calm himself down.
"Look, we can't stay here, it's not safe. So many of the younger ones whisper about monsters, and stories of bright lights in the sky caused by The Wings of Wax looking for us, are everywhere!" Alex protested. Morgan was about to interject when something happened.
A girl holding a spear and shield, covered in Moonshine flowers, came running up to everyone around the fire. She was one of the two people who were keeping guard on the outskirts of the base. She came running up with a face of distress, calling out Alex's name. Not caring for the whole argument that appeared to be happening the girl stopped in front of Alex, slightly out of breath. "They're here, they're here!" Her voice was soaked in fear, as she spoke quickly and quietly. "The Wings of Wax, they're here! They took Fredrick!" Her eyes began to well up with tears, as she lost control in her legs, falling to the ground.
Alex looked around, with an expression on... Fear? Although he was a little to stubborn to show it fully, he did let a bit of his true emotions shine through. "Corry, Davis, go and wake everyone up! Morgan, get Jax and him," He said pointing his spear to Cabe. "Out of here, then report back... We have a fight on our hands." Alex then picked up his shield and looked at everyone else around the fire. "Get a weapon and hide. Now!" As Alex finished barking up orders, everyone did as they were told.
Cocking her gun, Morgan grabbed Jax and Cabe and hauled them off to the nearest building. She would of thrown the two into a storage room. "Pick up a weapon and shield, and don't come out, not until I get back, alright?" Jax was quick to nod, her expression froze in ghost white horror. From the distance muffled shouts of New Borns could be heard, followed by a few screams and struggling, and finally, gun shots. Giving one last glance to Jax, Morgan ran out, leaving the two alone as chaos erupted outside.
