Lore Thousands of years ago, the world was created by the all-god. A grey, barren dessert of nothingness. There was no sky, no sea, no forest, no life. With the exception of the all-gods 5000 children, each made to incorporate a singular concept integral to existence and the experience of it. These immortal embodiments were set against one another, forced to clash in war for all eternity, using whatever puppets they created to fight alongside them. The corpses slowly but surely gave way to growth as they fermented the ground. Eventually, life came about and the first dragon was born. This creature was the first natural being to utilise magic, a capability thought reserved for the draemora alone. The first dragon formed an inspiration, and before long the world became overrun by them. These were called ancient dragons - mimicrys of the first dragon, created directly by the gods to wage war - and they fought endlessly. Until one day, without anyone really remembering why... they all died off, along with the all-god.
The corpses of the giant dragons gave way to mountains and seas. And what few draemora remained proclaimed themselves to be gods. The habitable world as we know it today was formed from their blood and their bones. The gods, tired of war, witnessed how new life of all kinds came to use magic. But they did not use this magic to kill, rather to build. Cities and farms, kingdoms and empires birthed from nothing. The wars between the gods became more subtle, steered through these more civilised creatures that came to be called viro. The gods themselves convining to the underworld where each of the survivors reserved a throne.
History played itself out, as these empires and kingdoms rose and fell to power. How they transitioned from copper to steel. From bow to muskets. From one continent to another.
Eventually, war came once more. Two wars which enveloped the entire world in bloodshed. Most gods had finally learned their lesson; peace was the only way to maintain the beauty of this world. And so they forged a peace, known as the concordat of eight. The world became less restless. It stabilised and grew once more, even though the atrocities of those wars continued to haunt its inhabitants. City states formated, gaining sovereign power over their borders. Enormous walls erected from stone and cement surrounding their metropilitan areas. Dividing civilisation from nature.
Then one day, a creature came to africa. Whose name was whispered as the Enigma, for a lack of knowledge and abundance of fear. Every living soul was destroyed over night, and the rest of the world became deathly frightened. The stability they had created, became fragile. Fear had taken hold of the powers that be. Unrest grows ever more, as wars sprang up left and right. Bloodshed became common once more. Giving way for the major factions to once more have a reason to butt heads with one another. In the midst of this uncertainty, an ancient evil revealed itself, preying on the chaos. The most prized city fell to his innesireable power.
Tragedy did not cease. For only just had Jerusalem fallen, or another danger reared its head. Invaders from a different world breached through the veil of the void and descended upon the many city states. Intent - seemingly - on killing all who stood in the way of their domination. Yet the Enigma rose to the call. Contrary to its earlier genocidal actions, the creature now protected the world. Ending the invasion in a mere two hours. Leaving those below on the ground to suffer the debris.
Times seems to be coming to an end. Tragedy is everywhere, and chaos reigns supreme. With the many factions on the brink of total war and unknown forces ever more preying on the weak. The world does not need a hero or a saviour. What it needs... Is a Vassal.
Prequel - Chamber of the Body Crysa, the crystal continent, has long been an ample source of crystalline mining efforts. Many companies have come to profit off the soil, selling their findings for top dollar across the world. Hextech however - involved in one such operation on a far away peninsulan island - came upon something not at all like crystal.
A nonagonical chamber, plastered across at every inch with magic wards, all seemingly intent on keeping something out... Or in.
According to the last report, a team of soldiers was sent in to investigate. The facility has been radio-silent ever since. One month before our story truly begins.
Chapter 1 - Trouble in London town Jack of Cloves Adrian and Damian, a set of Atronach twins, had only just started their travels away from their hometown when they came upon the massive walls of the metropolis that was London. The beating heart of Europe, a welcome home to any and all viro to full fill their dreams. Rive with opportunity to attain fortune and fame. Their path lead them to cross with that of John Smith, an aspiring 'jack of all trades' craftsman. Setting up an agreement, the atronachs went to work for this John, hunting down goblins for their hides and selling them off in exchange for equipment to help them on their journey. Eventually, their agreement convinced the two to steep to criminality as they helped to steal a shipment of crystalline from the Blinds. During this ambush, they accidentally blew up a container owned by Hextech, that had come right down from Crysa.
While the twins practised their trade of hunting, so did a particular demon practice her trade of... Well, being a demon. After she bit off the first of many ears, Rex was arrested and brought to the feet of Colonel Watson. Under the dominion of SRT's T13 regiment, the convict-turned-soldier was given orders to hunt down the leader of a local gang known as the Clovers. An extension of the notorious Blinds' Syndicate. Her hunt lead her to the Wheezing Weasel, where she met her newest companion; Ashley. The demon and half dragon joined forces, motivated by money and the glory of the fight. Leading down a path of blood, they carved their way to the championship of a fighting ring in order to gain the trust of a betrayer; Clover 9. But just as they proved victorious, a mysterious man appeared before them. Seemingly capable of stopping time, teleportation, and hypnotism, this strange and powerful man warned them of something to be in the future.
It was this same man that joined Godfrey, an SRT recruit unfortunate enough to be shipped off to Africa for a resettlement effort. The dead continent remained dead, as the effort was brutally slaughtered by the illustrious Enigma. An all-powerful, blindly murderous creature. Yet Godfrey was sole survivor, witnessing how the unusual man engaged not in combat but communication with the Enigma. The purple-eyed man - who later introduced himself as 'Riachi' - hinted at a prophecy before helping Godfrey escape the shores of Morocco. The events however came at a price, as Godfrey discovered his birth magi had saved him from certain death, but killed his sister.
Converging on Jack of Cloves, Adrian, Damian, Rex and Ashley fought together at the Silver hammer; the workshop that shortly after proved to come under the ownership of John. With Jack of Cloves dead, rest returned to the streets of London. But as the five celebrated their victory, Riachi came to them with a proposition. To find a hidden chamber.
Chapter 2 - The defiled throne Hefathus, the corrupted crusader
After his return to duty with SRT, the downtroden Godfrey's mind snapped at the discovery of the death of his sister. The overburdening of guilt - his own birth magi having been the cause of her death - led him to go on a rampage. Killing several innocents within the SRT embassy based in London. Promptly, he was arrested and sent off to live out his sentence in Terricomb prison. A heavily secured island-fortress off the coast of Norway, designed to hold captive the most unpredictable and dangerous viro. In his captivity, Godfrey came upon Riachi a second time. Riachi revealed that he was looking for a chamber, of which the whereabouts were unknown to him. While he did not know where to so much as find this chamber, Riachi seemed confident that Godfrey "or someone like you" would come upon it eventually. In exchange for promising to find the chamber, Riachi lent Godfrey a possibility to escape. But after an arduous prison riot, Godfrey failed to seize this opportunity. Left to rot away, now abandoned by all he knew...
Jojha, a researcher working in the interest of UAF, came to visit Jerusalem in the midst of a fierce siege. Joined by his assistant Moira, they came to investigate a recently discovered tomb. Their arrival was most awfully timed however. Just as their research bore fruit in the form of a chamber filled with eight constructs - one of which awoke and announced herself to be called 'Ruby' - the siege escalated. Warriors of Arrior, Solaris, and Zerna; who had all been manning the walls of jerusalem finally faced off against their attackers in battle. Massive golems were felled, but alas the wall was breached. Just as the battle seemed to die down, and the surviving warriors claimed their victory over the protection of the holy city, a new threat revealed itself. Chants filled the air, the clouds darkened overhead. The dead of every colour and tribe rose to their feet, showing black veins across their body. Some power had taken a hold of them, and was ambushing what remained of the tired soldiers. The battle was swift and merciless, with two champions paying the ultimate price. Jojha, moira, and their new friend Ruby narrowly escaped into the same catacombs they had just uncovered. In their attempt to flee certain death, they instead came upon even greater discovery. An artefact of sycropahs, The dead god of time. It's meaning remained a mystery. But a mysterious giant construct present within made clear to them their next purpose; to find Turin.
David, the child of two of the strongest spec ops soldiers of srt, was flying over the skies of Jerusalem. Word had reached their army of the war raging in Jerusalem, and he was among the first to respond to its call. Together with his companion, A fellow recruit named Turin, they came to assault the mysterious forces holding the throne of the overworld captive. But they underestimated the power they held, as their plane and that of their comrades were destroyed by a dragon of inneserable power. Barely escaping with their lives, David landed by parachute in the midst of Jerusalem. To his shock, he discovered the entire city had been taken over by a strange disease, turning blood black and allies against one another. Bloody battle commenced, until eventually David came upon Jojha, Moira and Ruby. Their introduction cut short by swords, all except Ruby fell dead. Taken away by the infected...
But death was not the end for these adventurers. For the corruption that had killed so many, had brought them back to life. Changed, but not corrupted, they learned that they could control this deadly disease. A fact that they were informed on by Riachi, seated on his defiled throne with a ghastly mask of a figure long forgotten. His demands were clear; To find what secret remained within the hall below the city. And so, just as the General and his Spec ops team entered the palace, so did they leave. The general and his team faced off against Riachi. Fighting for hours on end, before coming to the shattering realisation that this usurper was - in fact - immortal. Even with his head cut clean off and his guts spilled on the floor, he remained standing. Toying with the team like a cat with its prey, before swiflty finishing two members off after growing bored of his play.
By this time, the group found Ruby back in the hall below the city. Here, they learned their corruption came with understanding. Understanding of the text written; Teachings that would guide them on the path ahead. Of other chambers, located in other regions of the world. In Paris, New York, the siberian tundra, Yggdrasil, Crysa, Africa. But their escape was halted by Hefathus. And with their newfound powers, they too managed to overcome that monster. Slain to the ground, the group split up. Ruby and Turin heading for the east, while David and Jojha headed for the south...
Chapter 3 - He who struggles with god The Leech
Some time had passed. Months perhaps, or just days. Many of these prophetic characters were starting to grasp their inability to hold on to the fabric of time and space. But none could care less than Erik. His travels along rusty graveyards and long roads had earned him not only friends, but interesting developments. Stopped on his travel to New York, he came stuck in a city turned upside down. Denver, where the industrial machine had been shut down. Strikes and riots everywhere, and with the walls around him completely closed. Erik found no other option that to aid the authorities in solving this problem. And in doing so, incidentally, he furthered the sciences in unusual fashion. Though this was only in part due to his own incredible ideas for contraptions. It was also due to the work he did to gain support from the various companies in the city. From helping hextech test their crystalline weaponry, to ADF with their robotics. And with his new friend Beep-Boop in tow, he managed to leave Denver. Damaged, but not broken.
New characters enter the frey left and right. And arguably, it was Liliac who served most unexpected. A necromancer newly joining Xerna. He quickly became not only a powerful force, but a wealthy and influential one. His wealth stolen, and his influence gained through sheer force of power. He learned of a door right under the base itself. It was only after trying to get in, that he received the attention of Riachi. He had beaten him to the attempt of getting in, and thus - amptly impressed by his actions - Riachi decided to offer him a deal. The most powerful catalyst in the world, in exchange for leading the way for our merry band of criminals...
Rex and Ashley. They had long since settled in their new home at the SRT HQ in New York. Though one night, a nightmare plagued not just them, but two other people. A nightmare of nuclear destruction, and some type of invasion beyond their world. Confused, the early awakened soldiers all converged in the very room where Riachi was waiting for them. Giving them guidance on what to do with this nightmare, he instructed them; To hitch a ride in a plane headed for mexico, and get to the Xerna headquarters from there. Easier said than done, as the location of this base had been subject of question for decades.
David and Jojha, running from the war behind them, headed further south. So far, that they inevitably hit a wall; And so they had to choose. Go into the water, and swim across the sea. Or enter Africa. The choice was taken away from them when a mana sandstorm swept up from the north, likely caused by the ongoing battle. Pushed into Africa, Jojha cast her limited time magic only to learn that in a manastorm; there is no such thing as limited magic. Swung backwards in time, the two witnessed the world in its beginning stages. Learning soon that the Enigma had followed them even there. Telling them what they really were. Draemora, children of the All-god, made to fight one another forever. Usurpers, and murderers, who killed the All-god in cold blood and tore its remains into three. Banished 'gods' who had only returned to this world because a greater threat was afoot. Thrown forward in time, they witnessed that very threat. Nuclear annihilation as a last effort to thwart the invaders from beyond worlds.
With renewed spirits and strength, David and Jojha returned to Jerusalem. Spearheading the counter attack launched by SRT and ADF. With the aid of an SRT medic known as Lilly, they breached the walls and made way for the throne. On their way, they came to face a most disturbing creature. The leech, who after some clashing between the four introduced himself as Loya. One of the few draemora who had stood by the all-gods side during the original sin. A deadly battle followed, and soon after Loya fell to their blades. Whispering to them, he warned of what was to come. A battle that would surely be their end.
Chapter 4 - The two hour war The Seraf
While the three draemora-carriers in Jerusalem continued on valiantly, a different such draemora stood at the precipice of a choice that far outweighed what he knew. A former smuggler turned assassin by the name of James. Besieged with the task of killing the president of the free state of Beijing. Through trickery, stealth and creativity, James managed the task at the cost of his own face. Gaining allies along the way such as the necromancer Kyle and the presidents very own daughter; Duye. Left disfigured, he fled the state, only to find out a draemora known as Tayamat was settled within him. With unheard-of willpower and unwavering strength he sacrificed his very limbs to restrain this draemora. In an attempt at finding retribution, he became dedicated to finding and killing as many draemora as he could, so that he could absorb and restrain their power from being used for evil. A promise that left a great many corpses in his wake as his bloody crusade led him back to the now broken state of Beijing.
The necromancer Liliac was partly successful for the hunt of the necronomicon. Several pages came to be in his possession, granting him a great deal of power and influence over Xerna. Given the opportunity to strike out on his own, Liliac took a fleet of Xerna operatives to the shores of Crysa. Just as he left, Rex, Ashley, and some of their friends arrived to Mexico, where Xerna soldiers captured them and took them by force to the headquarters in the deep Amazon forests. Here, they met the Assassin. Leader of Xerna and most wanted criminal in the world. It was revealed to them that SRT themselves had created the Assassin, using them as a proxy tool to excuse their military spending and unite the SRT nations under a banner in the absence of further threats. They were an army that had gone out of hand, as the Assassin discovered secrets by his own. He had been corrupted by Riachi, and was now going to lend the group the only weapon by which to stop them... Except they did not receive the boon themselves. Instead they had been manipulated into sacrificing their own lives to forge the weapon. One Riachi gleefully took with him.
David, Jojha and Lily finally reached the golden throne. A palace covered in black blood, assaulted many times before. It now sat defiled and open to them to enter. There they found the Seraf. Turin, Riachi, and the Enigma. Three pieces of a great whole known as the All-god. And by entering the palace, they were tested in their conviction. Three fellow vessels, possessed by draemora entirely, stood in their way to the throne. Battle ensued, and blood was spilt in even greater numbers than before. By the end of it, four were dead. The three vessels who had come to face them, and Lily, who could not withstand the power of these creatures and was cut down. Left barely breathing, with many broken bones and open wounds, David stepped forth and was given a deal by the Seraf. Kill one of the three using the dagger Rex had given her draemora up for. To kill the enigma meant revenge, but with no means to defend against the invaders. To kill Turin meant to kill the only good part of the Seraf, but allow the world to survive the extra-dimensional attack. To kill Riachi.. That was left unknown. All that was known was that David chose the lesser evil. To kill Turin, but save the world.
Only seconds after his decision, the invasion came. Five-hundred ships entering the skies all around the world. Each a million souls strong, ready for war. Each hunting down another draemora, or their vassals. The enigma and riachi kept their promise. Within two hours, almost every ship fell down. Their crews slaughtered, and the surviving few fleeing with disease alongside them. The battle was won, the world was saved, and all was well.. For the next two years, if we may believe the deceitful Riachi.
Chapter 5 - Ascension Fachin, broodmother of gods
In the wake of the two hour war, much of the world was scarred. Ships had fallen from the sky and often times landed right into cities. Crushing houses and people in their wake. This universal disaster stunned the world. Leaving every faction in such disarray that - for a moment - there seemed to be a possibility for peace. Yet the actions of James had undone this. Beijing remained in a state of total war as SRT, SPR, and the newly formed "the Deep" faction wrought for control. The deep being one organisation led by the late presidents daughter Duye. An ally, who called upon James to right the chaos he had unleashed on the city.
David and Jojha found themselves new companions as they fled from Jerusalem. Their new friend - Who surprised them with her identity as an alternate Relo from the invaders' homeworld - led them to the safety of a camp on the other side of the world. Right ontop of the Chamber of the body where everything had started. The two broke up as Jojha joined the alternate Relo to explore the bowels of Crysa's underground superstructure. David on the other hand went east, pursuing the only lead he had on the location of his long lost sister. After arduous battle with Xerna's finest soldiers, he found her. Sarah, the lady who had travelled through time and space to get to where she was now. Though much older and wiser, her tinge for violence had only increased. Fearfully angry with the many factors who had betrayed them, she sought to destroy both Xerna and SRT for their crimes.
Liliac asserted his new home base in the peninsula of Crysa, where many Xerna soldiers aided him in setting up a permanent operation. Yet here he discovered the true nature of the thin spire-like mountains that formed like claws around these islands. They were alive, and irradiated pure magical energy that corrupted anything that came near to it. And appearantly, they dispense eggs.
Having returned to Beijing, James led a bloody crusade. Hunting down several vassals while renewing his contact with Duye. She had in turn grown to great power. The entire city - and by extension, the entire country of China - was at the cusp of a great civil war. But as James returns to Beijing, his freshly severed connection with Tayamat allows him to remember his complicated past. One which revealed his very identity was a fraud and that a certain goddess owed him greatly.
Chapter 5 - Undercover Vinchu. the choir
The chaos in Beijing settles down as an aliance between the Deep, the people's liberation army, and James' entourage is formed. A major faction calling itself the United Liberation Front is formed. In the few years, the ULF manages to expand from the borders of Beijing to encapsulate the whole of China and Siberia - defeating the SPR in the process. James Harlow undoes his fake identity and reunites with his true name; Vladimir Rasputin. With the force of the ULF at his back, he launches an inquisition hell-bent on finding and capturing every vassal and draemora they can manage. Their grissly public executions earn Rasputin a new nickname; The Godeater.
Africa becomes home to some semblance of life once more. David had taken his sister along with him to this continent to establish a homebase. One which no faction would dear approach, in fear of reprisal from the enigma. The continent quickly becomes a home for more vassals who answer David's rallying call. Their plans remain brewing.
The continent of Crysa, for the first time in a long time, became settled by viro. Under the leadership of Liliac, a citadel was established at the heart of Crysa's continent. Its standing army bolstered by newborn creatures from the womb of Fauchin. But the continent holds more secrets yet. A weapon said to be able to pull apart the barrier between the overworld and underworld. For now, Liliac keeps the weapon to himself.
It is during this period in time that a new group of vassals hits the scene. Undercover agents employed by the SRT are sent in to investigate the inner workings of the ULF. Perhaps they will soon discover the ULF's goals. Their names are Viktoria, Misha, Ainura, Fengkuang and Lao. During their efforts, they soon come to realise an armsrace is underway; Every faction is vying for something called 'elemental blades'. Misha manages to find one just as David comes to whisk it away. More remain to be found. Caught out by a failed cloaking device, Fengkuang and Lao are discovered as infiltrators and brutally executed. Viktoria is taken apart, her arm severed by her own actions; Rather than be killed, she is turned into a new ally to Rasputin. But the remaining infiltrators manage to uncover the details to an ancient ritual and the one draemora who can cast it: Vinchu.
Misha and Ainura are joined by an envoy sent by David; Jacob. Together, they manage to uncover a secret SPR base hidden under the city of Beijing. Through accident, they released the draemora lurking within, taking the form of a choir of a thousand voices. The breach of containment almost proved a catastrophe for the city, but the combined efforts of the infiltrators and the ULF managed to put a stop to it.
Chapter 5 - The next world war Rasputin the Godeater / John 'The General' Smith
With Beijing having narrowly escaped its demise, the rest of the world ends up in for a truer danger. With a surprising turn of events, the ADF decides to ally itself with the ULF, thereby creating a massive asiatic militairy force. The consequences will no doubt be dire.
